Perhaps that's the excuse I need to replace my old Sony TV with a widescreen LCD monitor! Reply Martin says: July 21, 2007 at 4:03 pm Hi Garry, Hope your Ebay auctions are going well! I've repeated this problem on Kubuntu as well :/ The problem is that during mythfilldatabase, the database crashes (repeated twice just to make sure). A few points, though. 6543 is the MythTV port.

Kypdurron5November 13th, 2009, 06:48 AMI had the same issue and I found that the directory that stores the recordings did not have the group mythtv on that directory. I would really like to get to a situation where I can add extra frontends, but just having one working frontend/backend system would be a bonus right now… Reply Garry says:
Take note Googlers! http://silkiconfinder.com/failed-to/failed-to-open-stream-http-request-failed-wordpress.html For my Virgin Media Samsung boxes (UK) I use a sleep of 0.8s between digits and rarely miss a channel change. I didn't even have to touch the BIOS settings (so I'm guessing it was set to auto). Maybe this is just because I don't understand mysql… but changing it to 6543 doesn't help either!
Oh well, have to hope for rain at the weekend so I've got some time free to tweak it some more… Reply Martin says: August 20, 2007 at 5:55 pm The Garry. I use a custom xmltv grabber and fill the database with "mythfilldatabase --file 1 tv.xml" where tv.xml is the right xml file. I am now able to watch TV in mplayer if I use the channels.conf I've created and run "mplayer dvb://", however, I still can't watch TV in MythTV. If I do, it runs fine, but still I get the same message when I re-run mythtv-setup.
