Trying to re-start Unity says that compiz fails with the above. GConf Error: Failed to contact configuration server; the most common cause is a missing or misconfigured D-Bus session bus daemon. Compiz Fusion requires the GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap extension in order to function. If the box doesn't come up, try doing it from the classic session.
Guerra24 commented Jul 14, 2016 • edited @HotelCalifornia That plugin is the "software" version of the GL::textureFromPixmap (Disclaimer: Not sure, if I'm wrong correct me) Works in the same way but Ubuntu's Classic (Gnome 2) desktop should be faster. dkms shows that the driver is installed, and "/etc/init.d/vboxadd status" says that the guest drivers are running. "glxinfo|grep texture_from_pixmap" returns: GLX_EXT_import_context, GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap, GLX_OML_swap_method, GLX_SGIX_visual_select_group, GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap, and glxgears runs happily. Where can I find instructions on how to set up and install Compiz Fusion?
